Apple knows what you want, even if you don't!

Apple computer has pioneered the (necessary?!?) field of "Computer Illiterate Computing".

They know what's best for you, even if that isn't what you REALLY want... just conform like everyone else and stop trying to be so unique!

I upgraded my iPhone 4 to the new iOS4.2 with some anticipated changes to the text message notification sounds... the problem is, they are all about 8 seconds long. (I can send 2 text messages during the time it takes to play back ONE 'notification' sound.)

The real solution would be for me to create my own text message notification sound, like I have done with my ringtone. (You STILL cannot create a custom text message notification sound!!!)

Just because it has an Apple logo on it doesn't mean it's any good. (homepage.mac.com/bradster/iarc…)

Some features that I'd like to see in the next iOS release:

• Custom text message notification sounds
• Create photo albums from the phone itself
• Password protect sections of the phone (contact list, emails, photos, etc.)
• Make it so the so-called 'mute' button ACTUALLY MUTES THE PHONE!!!!! (as in ZERO SOUNDS come from it, ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
• Eliminate all DRM and make it an open music platform
• Change MP3 tag info from the phone itself
• Manage phone contacts (Implement groups or folders, for simplified browsing... family, work, etc.)
• FLASH PLAYBACK ON THE WEB
• Create a combination of home button and up/down volume buttons for dedicated brightness control
• Dedicate the right edge to scroll control for all apps, not just contact list and iPod. (Would be really useful for Safari!!!)
• Add zoom functionality to the video recorder
• Add resolution settings to the video recorder (Half-HD is the only setting now... would like DVD resolution as an option)
• Fix AirPrint so that it ACTUALLY works! (My Lexmark WiFi-enabled printer cannot be seen by the iPhone, even using the Lexmark app!)

A note on DRM (Digital 'Rights' Management... should be called User Rights Prevention, or URP):
Forcing your loyal users into using draconian DRM schemes and scams are only hurting your loyal users, NOT the pirates, who are STILL stealing music from your so-called 'secure' device. (Pirates just find a way... live with it!) The iOS devices should let users connect it as an external drive, and dump music to it like it's a flash drive. (Just like old PALM devices, or EVERY OTHER MP3 PLAYER ON THE MARKET.) Sure... SUPPORT DRM, like the Zune, but don't REQUIRE it.
This is the same 'logic' that makes people think gun control laws completely stop all drug dealers from shooting people. The INTENDED effect of the alleged 'protection' scam actually hurts ONLY the law-abiding, aboveboard user while at the same time doing NOTHING to actually prevent the actual crime*. The ONLY reason that the iPod is the dominant portable music player is that they RELAXED the original DRM and allowed non-iTunes purchased music to be played back on the devices. When that happened, the sales skyrocketed. Imagine what would happen if ALL DRM was eliminated... there would BE no reason to use ANY other portable music player! The iPod would BE the market!

(* Crime is debatable in the case of file sharing, as there are many legitimate uses for such technology beyond 'fair use'.)

Just letting off steam, as Mr. Jobs and his cronies will do whatever he THINKS you want... not what you ACTUALLY want.
